Get a little sad, then laugh for thirty minutes, then get a little sad, then laugh for thirty minutes (I assume).

2K let’s goooo! I need to know what I’m jumping into when I download that demo on Monday and I also need to know what this supposed 2K Beach is about to look like. You know, for something that I’ve already accepted is going to take over my life in two weeks, it’s not treating me very well. Am I some sort of masochist or something? Do I enjoy the hurts? Good grief.
But for real, Casey, Rhogar and I have been obsessing over 2K again. This always seems to happen right before the new game is about to come out — we let the hype for the next iteration consume us to the point where we just end up playing that old shit. Got 3-4 wins in Pro AM last night. Felt good. Really excited to see what this demo is going to have in it — as long as I can make a few builds, test them out and lock in where I want to be this year, I’m satisfied.
I’ve been playing a ton of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Demo as well. The fact that 2K, THPS and Avengers all come out on the same day is a WHIRLWIND. I truly don’t know how I am supposed to manage my time. Quit my job? Shut down the website? Eat my own flesh so I don’t have to stand up and go anywhere that isn’t directly in front of my monitor? Time will tell. But yeah, the Warehouse demo feels incredible — such a true-to-form remake that my wife and I are going to put hours and hours into.
Nintendo still hasn’t announced a Nintendo Direct but I strongly believe that it’s happening next week. There was the Nintendo Indie World event which was nice — there were quite a few little indie games that looked enjoyable to me. I was mostly anticipating Sports Story but that got delayed, unfortunately, but I am downloading A Short Hike tonight to give that a shot because it looks delightful.
Been playing a lot of Super Mario World on my Switch Lite as well — the rewind feature on Nintendo Switch Online is absolutely fantastic. I never die! I never lose! I can just keep going and going and going! I’m unstoppable!
Oh, and I’m gonna check out Battletoads today too. That dropped on Game Pass yesterday but my ass was all up in 2K so I didn’t get to check it out yet. But I plan to this afternoon, people, don’t worry. I’ll talk all about it on the next Party Crashers episode.
On the tech side of things — I’m reading rumors about a new Apple Watch, a new Apple TV and new AirPods getting announced by Apple next month on top of their new line of phones and at this point I guess I should just set my wallet on fire? Maybe lather it up in butter and throw it into the street and just let the fucking birds shred it to pieces? I need it all.
I’ve also been upgrading my office/workflow/streaming setup quite a bit recently — selling off my old equipment and investing in a bigger monitor, a Mac Mini, an external GPU to run videos, games, recording and editing software faster and cleaner and so far it’s all paid off. The Elgato HD60S+ is a game changer. Shoutout Elgato.
DC Fandome is this weekend — I’m excited to get a glimpse at some of these movies and definitely this Suicide Squad game and this Batman game. Maybe some surprises? Either way, it’s something to look forward to — and in the age of coronavirus, that’s few and far between.
High Score on Netflix has been a fun watch — a video game documentary about things like Nintendo, SEGA, the console wars, etc. If you’re at all interested in that stuff or enjoy The Toys That Made Us, it’s kinda like that.
I found myself listening to the first Katy Perry album this week. Like, all the way through. Remember when she dated Travie McCoy from Gym Class Heroes and played Warped Tour? Wild. Anyways.

As for what I recommend this week — play the Marvel’s Avengers beta if you haven’t yet. It’s good fun. I’m picking up PGA Tour 2K21 today as well — I love golf games and this one looks very promising so lfg? I’ll have thoughts on that during the next Party Crashers also.
Hoops looks like dumb fun — if you’re into vulgar animated comedies like Big Mouth, check that out — plus it’s got Jack Johnson as the lead and he’s wonderful. Plus, Ben Hoffman. What could go wrong?!
And OBVIOUSLY you should listen to the new Bright Eyes album because it’s lovely and Conor Oberst is a gift to us all. What a songwriter. Especially as the Fall months start to creep up on us, it’s going to hit even harder. Does it reach the level of like, LIFTED? Nah, but that’s totally okay. It’ll be one of the best albums of the year and that’s all that matters.
There’s a new Deftones song also which is rad. And Phoenix. And Father John Misty. And new albums from The Front Bottoms and The Killers. Lots of good music to listen to if your ears are aching for some tunes. I’m assuming. I haven’t actually listened to the majority of them yet because they released seven hours ago and I was sleeping.
Have a good weekend, wear a mask and think about how you’re gonna vote in November.
