The moment I’ve been waiting for - the best album of the year is officially dancing within my ears.
It’s been a week.
For some reason over last weekend I said to myself “hey, what if I recorded an episode of all three of my podcasts in one week?” on top of returning to work and being extremely busy with all that as well. But instead of being logical and maybe only doing 1 or 2 of them instead, I said “good idea!” and did exactly that.
Modern Classics is officially back - Casey and I combined our first podcast with our latest podcast and created the best podcast. It’s truthfully the culmination of where The Morning Brew was headed and bringing back what I missed about doing a contained, main topic like we did with Modern Classics. So now it’s the best of both worlds - you’ll get our regular banter and nonsense in the beginning of each show but it’ll all lead into a lengthy discussion about a favorite piece of media of ours that was released within the last 20 years or so.
On top of that, we did an episode of Funny Business on Wednesday - our third episode since being quarantined and honestly I think it was one of our best. We have a good run of show on our hands with gams, rankings, news and other fun stuff - it’s definitely a lot more loose than it used to be and that’s exactly what I wanted it to be.
And lastly, we’re recording a new episode of Party Crashers tonight and it won’t just be Alex and I on this one - we’re bringing on a new guest making his first appearance on any of our shows - Corey Barkley! He’s an Xbox boy so he’ll help keep the show well-rounded. I’m excited to record it tonight. I should have it live on podcast feeds tomorrow morning!

As for what I’d recommend this week — it goes without saying. The 1975 is my favorite band currently making music. And not only do I think that this new album of theirs is going to be the best album released this year, but also one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s messy, glitchy and all over the place and that is honestly the best thing about it. It doesn’t play by the rules, it doesn’t pigeon hole itself into one specific genre — it simply does whatever it wants and excels at every level. Listen to it. The whole thing. 120 minutes. I promise there’s something there for you.
