A streaming service for everything!
Today Apple held a Special Event in order to reveal new subscription services as well as updates to their existing applications. Check them out below!
The first new service that was revealed was Apple News + which is the inclusion of magazine and newspaper subscriptions within the current Apple News app. The $9.99 monthly subscription will give you access to over 300 magazines as well as The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times and more. Other features include automatic downloads, live cover animations and recommendations. Apple News+ will be available today.
A new credit card that exists both as an extension of Apple Pay that sits in your Wallet inside of your iPhone and as a physical titanium credit card was announced next during the event. Due to it’s integrations with the Wallet you can view your statements, balance information and see a list of your activity which is much more specific than that of your current provider. The card also generates a new security code each time you make a purchase and does not require a card number, CVV or expiration date making it as secure as possible. The card will be through Goldman Sachs and MasterCard and will give you cash back for each purchase you make - 1% for physical card usage, 2% for digital purchases and 3% for purchases made on Apple products. Apple Card will be available this Summer.
Apple then decided to step its toes a little deeper into the world of gaming but instead of offering the same games that are available from third parties on other platforms, they aim to provide a service that provides nothing but exclusive titles. Apple Arcade will be an application where you can pay one (currently undisclosed) price and pick and choose from a selection of over 100 games that are exclusive to iOS to download an play on or offline. The games will be available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac and the service itself will launch this Fall.
Apple TV Channels
Apple TV will now allow you to subscribe to the channels that you want such as HBO and Showtime, directly within its app due to Apple TV Channels. The Channels integration will hit Apple TV this May and the service will be available on smart televisions, Roku and Amazon Fire TV shortly afterward.
And finally, Apple announced Apple TV+, which will be available on Apple TV as well which will contain original programming that can be viewed on any of your Apple Devices. Shows that were announced featured the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Anniston, Steven Spielberg, Steve Carell, Jason Momoa, JJ Abrams, Big Bird and Kumail Nanjiani. The service will be made available this Fall.
