Frank Ocean, Resident Evil 3 & More | This Week In New Releases - 4.3.2020

In a strange, strange turn of events, we actually have some new Frank Ocean music!

We'll talk about that in a minute though - happy Friday, everyone. We've got a few key releases out today but first, we'll recap everything that's come out this week before today.

  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is officially out on DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K and digital retailers - I haven't done my re-watch just yet but I'm actually really excited to. I didn't love the movie on my first theater watch and it's remained lukewarm in my mind ever since but I'm hoping I open up to it more this time around.

  • Totally Reliable Delivery Service is out on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and Casey and I actually streamed a bit of it yesterday. And while the online component is very laggy and the game is wonky as all hell, the rag doll physics and abundance of things to drive, jump off and explore make it a hilarious and joyful time to spend with a friend - but by yourself, maybe not so much. Looking forward to messing around in the game even more this week.

That was pretty much it - we exist in a weird timeline and lots of things are getting cancelled or postponed so it'll most likely remain that way for a while. And yet, we still have music and video games so let's look at everything we're going to be able to dive into today.

Purity Ring - WOMB

Yves Tumor - Heaven To a Tortured Mind

Thundercat - It Is What It Is

Charmer - Ivy

Space Force (Switch)

And that's it! As for what I think you should check out this week - absolutely the new Frank Ocean singles. I heard them last week and they're fantastic (obviously) but now that they're out there for everyone, take advantage of it. Also, the new 1975 track features Phoebe Bridgers and it's also obviously extremely good. Literally my favorite single artist and my favorite band released new music this week so I can't complain at all. The 1975's single is a very laid back acoustic track with some social commentary and the addition of Phoebe is such a good move.

I'm also excited to check out these new albums from Yves Tumor, Thundercat and Charmer. GOD BLESS MUSIC, MAN. They're making Friday's exciting during such a time of uncertainty.

And last but not least, Resident Evil 3 looks good if you're into that sort of thing. I decided against picking it up simply because $60 for a 5 hour game and a tacked on multiplayer mode doesn't exactly seem worth it especially if you aren't a big zombie guy.

Oh, and I was lucky enough to be sent a code for In Other Waters, this new Switch game that was released today that looks awesome but I have yet to be able to check it out. Hopefully I can get to it over the next couple days and then I'll give some impression on The Morning Brew this week!
