So many games, so many games, how do I find the time to play so many games?
The day has finally come. And to be completely honest, I wrote most of this ahead of time because it’s Friday and that means that I will be dividing my time between three brand new video games this morning — and not just three brand new video games, but probably my three most hyped games of the year. Which I’m sure you can guess based on the title of this post.
But we won’t get into that because, well, at this point I have not played any of them yet.
But we’ll be talking more about all of them in the future! Until then, we recorded a new episode of Party Crashers last night. It was a fun one — a lot of speculation about all three of the big hitters and their new consoles that are about to be released. Also, we all beat a bunch of different games so you can hear us review those on this episode too.
Oh, and we also discussed the fact that Nintendo dropped a bomb on us yesterday morning with a whole slew of Super Mario news including the reveal of the long-rumored Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection which features Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. Whew. But if you want to hear my thoughts on all of this, again, listen to Party Crashers, come on.
Speaking of games I’ve been playing though, I beat The Last Campfire on Wednesday and it’s such a delightful little game. It took be about nine hours even though I read that it was only supposed to take five or six. Whatever, I enjoyed every minute of it. Think of it as a Zelda game minus the combat. There are no enemies, you aren’t wielding a weapon — just exploring and solving puzzles along the way.
I’ve been playing Battletoads as well — I wanted to get it beaten before today but that didn’t happen but I still enjoyed myself. Also, I have the HOTTEST take on PGA Tour 2K21 and I took it to that episode of Party Crashers that we just posted. Listen to it. Hear my frustrations. (It’s a beautiful game, but it has aa tragic flaw — but a simple patch will fix that.)
AP Bio Season 3 dropped on Peacock yesterday! I’m so glad that show was picked back up again. Season 1 was pretty good, Season 2 was much, much better and I’m expecting Season 3 to head in that sam trajectory. My wife and I will hopefully be finding the time to watch some of of it this weekend if we can rip ourselves away from THPS 1+2.
Oh, also I just want to put into the universe the same thing that I did last night on Party Crashers — Steep 2, please exist and please get announced next week during the next Ubisoft Forward event.
Also, today there’s a high of like 80 but the rest of the 14 day forecast is looking like 60’s and 70’s so let’s goooooo September! I know it’s not technically Fall yet, but to me it is. Putting up some Fall decor this weekend, doing our Fantasy Football draft on Monday. It’s the best time of the year. Even though there’s a pandemic that’s killing everyone and there’s always the risk that football gets shut down and we all get locked in our houses again. But uh…we’ll see I guess? Moving on.

NBA 2K21 (PS4, Xbox One, Switch)
Marvel’s Avengers (PS4, Xbox One)
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (PS4, Xbox One)
As for what I’d recommend this week, hahahahaha - NBA 2K21, Marvel’s Avengers and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The games, straight up. 2K’s always a good time in the park, Avengers looks like it’s gonna be a blast with friends and a really good story and then THPS 1+2 is OBVIOUSLY going to be super nostalgic and hella addicting.
Outside of the games though, I’m Thinking of Ending Things looks fantastic. So again, if my wife and I can rip ourselves away from Tony Hawk at ALL, we’ll be watching it. Will report back. Also, obviously check out the new SZA single, the new Dangerous Summer single, the new Gus Dapperton single and maybe the Big Sean album? If I get around to it, maybe I’ll recommend it on something in the future. But odds are, I’m going to listen to that SZA single and then return to CTRL and spend my weekend listening to that so no promises.
Side note before I go — if the rumors are true and Apple shadow drops the Series 6 Apple Watch on Tuesday, that Apple Credit Card is gonna be finding some use, no doubt.
Enjoy your extended weekend, get spooky, get cozy, play some games, explore the outdoors, don’t say dumb shit on Facebook.
